Let's Go Back

I Asked the people on the mailing list to    re-live their "best" memories of Heep early  on the net...some responses below..
more  to come..

  •
    •
    • I remember your invite to me to join the list after I sent in my memories of 1973, 25 years on in 1998. It was one of the most exciting days of my life. Some may say thats pretty sad but I have to say it has completely changed my life

      Mike
      IOW

    • Brings some light to this day of sadness when I heard my good friend Kari passed away at age of 43. He was diagnosed of cancer two months ago which was a big shock when I heard it. Last time I talked with him he was very positive and full of life. Grabbed my bass to play Hanging Tree with Tina for his memory. It was the first song he taught to me a couple of years ago when I got into bass playing. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. He is survived by his wife and three young children.

And back to Dave's topic: Who remembers it when Mac used to forward manually all the mails to the
list members? That was sometime in '96 when I joined. We were about a dozen or so way back then.
If I remember right ex-Heep roadie Todd Fischer used to be on the list. Anyone know where he is
      nowadays?
      Regards,
      Jyrki

I remember when Mick was on the list, and then Ken for awhile.  I also remember Ken getting involved in a flame war over lp titles and covers.  Remember the Shoe Polish??  :-)

I also remember a chat I came on late to, and changed my screen name to Gitlin and tried to piss people off posing as Alex. It worked, Alan got mad and left.  Sorry Alan, it was just too much fun!!  :-)  Then Mac started and changed his name to Mick Box, just as Moshe came on, and boy did Mac pull Moshe's chain.

      Bob W.
I remember finally getting on-line, man was I clueless!
the first reply I got from Ken H. was asking why i was writing my entire message in the 'subject' line! :-)

Then i finally figured out how to get on the Heepsters list [thanks Dave!]

      What else.....
I remember not being able to afford to go to St Louis, but Jesse keeping on me about it, and then helping me out with John Parisi calling me on the Wed to see if i wanted to go with him on the Friday! Wow. what a drive!! that was a great, but kinda short weekend, plus i was broke by Sunday am, and really didn't wanna leave for to head home for thanksgiving, but kinda had to cause my wife was expecting me and i couldn't afford to stay again [plus no one else was!]. Hmmm.
BTW Dave - if i never did, Sorry for waking ya up at 5am at the Cheshire when me and John arrived! Wasn't aware we'd missed the party the night before.
      Cleveland was great too.

I remember in 98 getting an email from you
asking me questions about seeing Heep live and things.  You
then gave my information to Mac and I was on the list before
I even knew it.  I hate to think I could have missed the last
      three years of fun.

I remember going online in 1995 and immediately I did a word search for Uriah Heep. Nothing.

A few months later, I tried it again, and got Dave White's Welcome to England's Own -- Uriah Heep site.  I quickly sent off an email.  It is hard to explain just how nervous and excited I was, as here  -- FINALLY -- I was going to come in contact with the ONLY other known (to me) Uriah Heep fan in the world!!!  HOORAY!! There were now TWO of us!!  When I found out there were many "others" out there, I was overwhelmed.

I remember the POW-WOW Heep chats.  Especially, the one where we named the chat "Words In The Distance."  Also, the frantic rush to get 50 heepsites online, so Mick would come to the USA and have a beer with us!  My site was #36.

Hard to believe it has been so many years since.

      Best,

      Roland Austin

This website will take us back in time through the beginnings of Uriah Heep and the Heepsters on the Web.

From it's beginnings with a gentleman in Singapore, through the early days and remembrances of  events gone by, I will strive to do my best to bring back to you the feelings we all had when we discovered the internet home of the band we just could not get enough of, through the years and up to the present.

I hope you will join me in the next months as we travel through time with Uriah Heep on the net...

Thank you for all your support through the years, I think this will be a great ride once again.
