SEVERAL DOZEN GLIMPSES OF MY IRISH SETTER COLLECTIBLES
(Or, What I Spend My Money On
When I'm Not Spending It On Lucy and Gracie :-)
Thanks to the internet (including eBay), dog shows and antique shows, my house is starting to look like an Irish Setter museum. For those of you who share my fondness (okay, obsession) for Irish Setter figurines, plates, prints, book-ends, doorstops, etc. etc. etc., here's a look at some of my treasures. (I don't think I realized just how many I had until I picked up my digital camera and started taking pictures ... as you'll see, I clearly have the sales resistance of a doorknob when it comes to Irish Setter collectibles!!)
The prize of my collection, an original Stanford Fenelle oil on board, 35" X 27".
More Stanford Fenelle
(Alas, only prints, not originals :-)
Another prize, newly acquired
Original oil on canvas by Charles Hargens
(Framed size 39" x 33")
Another oil painting, newly reframed, this time by a talented amateur. My best guess is that it dates back to the 40's or 50's.
My "Wall of Heads" :-)
More "Wall Art"
1930's hand-colored litho by French artist Leon Danchin (1887-1939)
An oil on silk, probably from the 1950's
Seth Thomas "ogee" clock, late 1800's.
Thierry Poncelet prints :-)
Early chalkware (1937)
A Christmas gift from friend Sue Musil (Lucy and Gracie's breeder).
More "Wall Art"
Mortens Studio Figurines (1950's)
Heads Up (On The Wall)
Bossons
One of a pair
One (of two, of course) Jennings Brothers bookends.
1950's "TV Clock"
19" tall, hand-carved from a single piece of driftwood by a talented California artist.
One of my personal favorites, found at a large outdoor antique show a few years back.
Another hand-carved one-of-a-kind. (Now if that was a squirrel instead of a fox, I'd be convinced Lucy and Gracie were the models for this one! :-)
Little metal setters.
