Chinese Food

I don't know if all the stories you've heard about Chinese food is true. I was never served dog, primarily because it is very expensive. In the north, dog is usually stewed. It a winter dish, supposed to keep you warm.

I started every day with millet or wheat porridge, a cup of hot milk (made from powdered milk) sugar to go in our porridge (the Chinese prefer salty things in their porridge) and a cup of tea. Oh, and a plate of roasted peanuts. After you have eaten roasted peanuts with chopsticks, the rest of the day is easy.

The Chinese don't usually eat different things for breakfast than they do the rest of the day.

My guidebook claims that live rat embryos are a delicacy in Southern China. The dish is called Three Squeals "since the embryo squeals once when you pick it up with your chopsticks, once again when you dip it in soya sauce, and finally when you put it in your mouth..."
