Mission & Vision

ELIGIBILITY

Any 9th, 10th, or 11th grade students currently enrolled in the Cleveland Municipal School District may apply to Health Careers Center.

 

The Health Careers Center is an ideal choice for high school students who enjoy working with people, and who have an aptitude for science. 

  • Courses at Health Careers Center, prepare students to work directly with patients, to work with dental and medical tools, instruments and materials, and to function competitively in institutions of higher learning through college preparatory classes. 

  • Courses also prepare graduating students for the world of work or for further education at a technical school or college.

Health Careers School

 

Health Careers Center is a Career and Technology Magnet High School housed in a bright contemporary building.  The facility was erected in 1980 with federal funds and equipped through state funds.  It creates an excellent educational environment for up to 425 students.  Health Careers Center follows state vocational educational guidelines that set the teacher/student ratio at 1:25.  This further enhances the atmosphere for learning.

THE PROGRAMS

This unique high school prepares young people for careers in the health care field.  Students can earn a state vocational certificate and complete college prerequisites while earning a high school diploma.  In addition, students have important opportunities to acquire actual hands on clinical experience.  Instruction includes hospital shadowing, lectures by health professionals, and other direct exposures to health careers.
