You must also email me with some basic identifying info: first
name, grade, school, location.
Indicate whether your request is for:
- Auditions or in-class exercises: These uses
do not require separate application for a performance license
- Forensic competitions: Order the script and the royalty
for a year's competition use
in included in the price..
- Student productions or workshops: These must
be negotiated like any other production. They require application
to the author with details
and payment of a production royalty.
Use your judgment. A number of my plays have "adult"
language or content -- rarely anything you're not used to hearing
in popular films, but many schools and judges are conservative.
Check out the play summaries and samples
first.
Remember: Receipt of script(s) does NOT automatically
convey rights to perform, produce, or otherwise present any of
the works under copyright. Playwrights depend on productions
of our work for our livelihood: i.e, our groceries. To inquire
about possible production
or performance, see below.

Student production royalties are generally on a per-performance
basis, and vary based on ticket price and size of venue. Most
short plays and monologues have a $15.00/performance minimum
royalty. Royalties for most student shows are negotiable
with the author.
Special student competition rates:
- Competitions & forensics: Any of the short works above
may be used -- with permission -- in student competitions for
a one-time payment, which covers its use within the competition
year.
