About Stephen Stanziano
Born in Cleveland, Ohio Dr. Stanziano has been a published ASCAP
composer since 1982. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree Magna Cum
Laude in composition from Cleveland State University in 1996 where he
studied composition with Edwin London and Eric Ziolek. He also studied
double bass with Harry Barnoff and Mark Atherton, both of the Cleveland
Orchestra. Dr. Stanziano earned a Master of Art’s degree in composition
at Kent Sate University in 1998 while performing the duties of teaching
assistant in music theory. He continued his doctoral studies at Kent
State University where he studied composition with Frank Wiley, Dennis
Eberhard and Halim el-Dabh. He was the recipient of the 1999-2000 Kent
State University Fellowship Award. He also teaches at Cleveland State
University, University of Akron, and Lakeland Community College. Dr.
Stanziano is an active composer, lecturer and performer (Cleveland
State University Faculty Jazz Ensemble, Suburban Symphony Orchestra)
and maintains a private teaching studio. His music has been performed
throughout the United States and at the Vatican in Rome, Italy. He
joined the Cleveland Composer’s Guild in 2005 and is recognized in
Who’s Who in America for 2006-2007.
