Rudolph Bubalo began his musical career as a jazz pianist and arranger. After attending the universities of Minnesota and Illinois, he subsequently received degrees from the Chicago Musical College and Roosevelt University where he studied composition with John Becker, Vittorio Rieti and Ernst Krenek. In addition to participating in a Rockefeller Grant for mixed-media, he is the recipient of the 1970 Music Award of the Cleveland Arts Prize, numerous ASCAP Composer Awards, and grants from the Bascom Little Fund and Cleveland State University. He has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Ohio Arts Council. His works have been performed by the Cleveland, American, New Mexico, Kalamazoo, Springfield,Akron and Duluth Symphony Orchestras. His compositions are available through Galaxy, Ludwig, and European-American music publishers and are recorded on CRI, Advent, Dimension, Advance, and Crystal records. Mr. Bubalo is Professor of Music and Director of the Electronic/Computer Music Studios at Cleveland State University.
